Chapter Preview : Adventure 29 – The Fatman 2

New Arizona, TF Sector 1 – April 2, 2501

Larna appeared in the middle of a dark alley. Larna was now a Fox by name and a Fox by nature. Her looks and clothes were both designed to give people the appearance that she was just a stunning young woman and no threat to them. She had long auburn coloured hair with a white streak, about one centimetre wide, running down the middle. It was tied up in a tight ponytail. It was waved back from her forehead, with a tiny fringe down her forehead. She did not only have a feminine figure, but quite a muscular one as well, the perfect fitness trainers body, and with the look of a young Hudson Leick she could be classed among the most attractive women in the world. Her hazel coloured eyes could cast a spell over any man. Her face had just the right amount of make-up. Her eyes were surrounded by a dark eye shadow and her lips were a bright red with a black surround. She does not really need any make-up. She could have easily been mistaken for a pin-up and not a highly trained mercenary. She was wearing a pair of black fishnet stockings, with a very close tight pattern, which made her legs look even sexier than they were without them. On top of them going around her waist was a small, tight figure hugging black leather mini-skirt which, at about eight inches long, just covered her buttocks. On the top was a black leather shirt over a black lace bra. This shirt was tucked into the mini-skirt. Her jacket was a black leather motorbike jacket with matching black leather motorbike boots on her feet. The boots had got a number of buckles on the side and came right up to about half way up her shinbone. Around her neck she had a gold chain with a cross on the end. The cross hangs down to lie just in-between her breasts. It was her mothers’ necklace and Larna was never without it. On her right wrist she had the wrist part of a pair of handcuffs that they use in the present day. Her father gave it to her when she was young. She used to keep it in a box until she killed her foster father, now she wore it constantly to keep reminding herself of the past, which had made her what she was today. The tattoo of the Chinese for Eternal Devotion, which she did herself in memory of her late husband, was on the right side of her neck.

Her trip this time had not been as hard. The last time she had arrived in a dark alley, she was racked with pain after just managing to escape from the Loretis home world. Her eyes went straight to the time display on the top of the Thala. The Time, History And Location Analyser, Thala for short, surgically attached to her left wrist, accesses the Factual Historical Information (FHI) Implants that have been surgically attached to the inside of her skull. These Implants give Larna every single piece of data concerning people, places and events going right back to 1980. They also store STC (Space Time Co-Ordinate) numbers in them. STC numbers are made up from the longitude and latitude numbers of the place she wanted to go to, along with the year, month, day, hour, minute and second she wished to arrive in. After the time transportation sequence is activated the Thala would surround Larna in an invisible light field and turn her body into a set of small molecules, which are held in the light. The light then pierced a hole through time and carried the molecules with it. When it arrived at the new destination, it turned the molecules back to a physical form. Thought processes operated the Thala and the responses were given to Larna in her subconscious thanks to a modified FHI Implant. The only sign that Larna was using her aid was when it appeared on her wrist. It appeared when Larna activated the operations function. When it was activated, the Thala lost the power to keep the invisibility shield in operation, as it is at all other times, so no one can see the technology on her arm. With the Thala permanently attached to her wrist, Larna now existed in what was called ‘Out Of Time’. She was surrounded by a PPF (Paradox Protection Field), which enabled her to witness any changes without being changed herself at the same time. It also meant that she could slip from TRES to TRES without meeting any of alternate versions of herself. The Theory of Paradox Realities states that for every decision or event there are an infinite number of other realities that exist. When Larna was chosen it created a chain of events, which led to a TRES that contained a nuclear explosion in the year 2000. It became a Temporal Event Circle. She partly caused the explosion, so had to somehow go back in time from the future. If she had not been chosen to time travel, another TRES would have existed for them. History, for them, would have taken a different course, perhaps the future we are going to live.

Larna gave a huge sigh of relief. The time display on the top of the Thala told her that she was back home. Correctly, this time and not nine years into her future. She had returned to the time just days after she had originally left to track down a number of Zarrs who had escaped back in time. For Larna, that had been months ago. To everyone else here she had left only a day ago. Her mind went straight back to the task at hand and did not linger on the joy of being ‘home’. She had two main goals to accomplish. The first would be easy. The second would be a pleasure. Larna glanced around her. The Thala also told her that she was in the Chicago sector of New Arizona. The living quarters of New Arizona had been created to resemble the old map of the USA. It was not a bad part of the city to arrive in. It was normally quiet and deserted. She moved down the alleyway swiftly. She disappeared as if entering an invisible doorway.

The bedroom was mostly dark. The moonlight came through the window to cast a silvery light across the bed. The covers revealed the shapely form of a young woman sleeping soundly. She was spread out in the bed. The covers moulded to her form perfectly. The gently moved as her body moved while she was sleeping. Larna moved to the door of the room. Her figure was still in darkness, but she could clearly see into the room. She lent against the doorframe and just watched. Her heart race as she observed the covers rising and falling gently as the young blonde haired woman slept. She was so glad to see Heather alive and well and not in the hands of the evil dictator. Larna could smell Heather’s perfume. Her love for her life-partner had only got stronger during her time away, but deep in her soul at that moment, were feelings of remorse and regret. She also felt uncomfortable. The last time they had met, Larna had actually killed Heather. Larna just could not forgive herself for doing that to the woman she loved. But, that was in a future she was determined to never allow to happen. By coming back, she had already started to change things. But, those were only small changes. She had to eliminate the one person who had caused the trouble. Tony Johnston. Now, she was standing watching her lover sleep.

Heather moaned softly as she slept. Her eyes suddenly shot wide open as if she had been woken by a noise in her sleep. Larna wanted to make sure that her love had not had a bad dream, but she dared not move. She knew that Heather would not know what she had done, but that did not relieve the guilt that Larna was feeling. Heather slowly stretched in the bed. She yawned then rolled over in the bed. She sat bolt upright when she caught a glimpse of the shadow standing at the door.

“Who’s there?” Heather asked in her soft light tone as she pulled the covers up to shield herself from those prying eyes. “If you do not show yourself I will scream,” she added hoping to scare the visitor into showing themselves.

“And I would come running,” Larna replied from the darkness.

Heather immediately jumped out of the bed and rushed across the room. She jumped into Larna and wrapped her arms around her tightly. Larna was slow to reply to this display. It felt so good to feel Heather close to her again, but she did not believe she deserved this hug and loving embrace. Heather could sense the battle Larna was having. Her lover’s hug was not as strong as she had been expecting. Heather backed away from Larna a couple of steps.

“What is the matter?” she asked in a very concerned voice. “Don’t you love my anymore,” she finished in a worried voice.

Larna instantly placed her right hand on Heather’s face gently and stroked her cheek. Heather smiled as the touch began. She bent her head to side to feel more of the touch and placed her own hand on Larna’s so that it would never stop.

“I will always love you. Remember that,” Larna said softly as she kissed Heather on the left cheek. She then moved passed Heather into the middle of the bedroom.

Heather watched Larna go to the bed. She knew that there was something wrong with her lover. She did not need to be told about it by a doctor or a ‘shrink’. Heather grabbed the white silk dressing gown from the door and slipped it on over her skimpy silk and lace nightgown that barely covered her figure. She padded across the room in her bare feet and climbed on to the bed behind Larna. Larna sat on the edge looking out into the night sky through the window.

“I do not fully understand your time travelling,” Heather started softly. “But, I know that you live differently and time passes for you, but not necessarily for us. How long have you been away from me?” she then asked curiously.

“A few months,” Larna replied instantly as she slipped her leather motorbike jacket off and threw it on to a chair across the room.

“I could see how you might have forgotten our relationship,” Heather began trying to soothe her lover to bring her back.

“I love you Heather,” Larna said strongly, turning to face her lover and placing both hands on her face. “Being away from you has only made those feelings stronger and deeper. It is not that I don’t love you, it’s just, I don’t think I deserve to be loved back. Especially after what happened,” she added not making any sense to Heather at all.

“I do not understand,” Heather replied calmly. “I could never not love you Foxy. You are my life. I know that you will keep me safe. You saved my life from those aliens. I could never forget that. Why do you not deserve my love?” she asked in total confusion.

Larna rose to her feet and walked to the window. Heather moved to the sitting position that her lover once had. Larna took a number of deep breaths to gather her composure before she turned back to face Heather.

“I was trapped for months in a different dimension. A lot of bad things happened to me out there and the only thing that kept me alive was you. When I managed to get home, I found myself in the future. The ruler of the city had taken you as a slave. He treated you just like his special whore. I blame myself for not being here to stop what happened to you. He took advantage of you and destroyed you. I could not save you. I tried all I could, but I was not good enough. I do not deserve you and I cannot expect you to love me, after what I did to you,” Larna stated showing more heartfelt emotion than Heather had ever seen from Larna before.

Heather had never seen Larna cry. She had never seen Larna so full of doubt. Her lack of confidence shocked her. Heather rose to her feet slowly. She slipped the dressing gown off her shoulders. When she got to Larna, she started to unbutton her leather shirt. Larna stopped her immediately.

“I killed you Heather. I don’t deserve you,” she pointed out firmly.

“Shush,” Heather said softly and placed her finger over Larna’s mouth. She continued to unbutton the shirt while kissing Larna’s neck and cheek.

Larna wanted her to stop, but it felt so good to be this close to Heather again.

“I know that you would do everything you could to save me. You have come back to do just that. My Fox would not let anything or anyone stand in her way. She is tough,” Heather pointed out as she slipped the shirt from Larna’s body. “She is resilient,” she continued as she unzipped the leather skirt Larna was wearing. “She is cunning and sly,” Heather went on as her loving strip continued with the boots. “Foxy,” she then expressed lovingly. “You say you do not deserve me. I say you are not the same without me. I want you to come to bed with me right now. I want you to make love to me like you have been away for six months. Then, in the morning, you’ll get up, go out and kick the son of a bitch where it hurts,” Heather finished bluntly as she let her night gown drop to a heap on the floor.

Larna flashed her sexy smile. She could never resist Heather. It was even harder when she played these sex games and seduced her so effectively. Larna started to return the kisses. The two kissed and groped each other for a few moments in the standing position before they dropped down on to the bed to continue their love making in a more horizontal position.

Larna slowly looked down at Heather’s sweet face. She was snuggling into Larna’s chest and bosom like a sleeping baby. After minutes of watching her, Heather opened her eyes. She was so contented. Larna stroked her blonde hair away from his face and kissed her on the forehead. Heather stroked her hand across Larna’s stomach.

“Tell me what happened in the future you went to,” Heather requested softly.

“As far as I am concerned that future never happened,” Larna replied swiftly while trying not to hurt her lover’s feelings.

“Even if it didn’t, or even if you are here to change it, surely if you tell me what happened, I will know what to avoid,” Heather replied showing a level of cunning that Larna would have been proud of.

“Beauty and brains. A lethal combination Mrs Morgan-Fox,” Larna said kissing Heather again, this time fully on the lips. “The man’s name is Tony Johnson. He takes control over the city and kills Tom and Lauren,” she then expressed sharply. “He enslaved you by threatening the children,” she finished as she slipped out of the bed.

Heather rolled over on to her back. “Children?” she asked in confusion. She knew that Lauren had a daughter, but wondered what other child Larna was talking about. Children did signify more than one.

“Tanya and Jet,” Larna replied immediately.

“Jet?” Heather asked again not following Larna at all and not recognising that name.

Larna moved back across to the bed and kissed Heather’s stomach. She did not have to say a word. Heather placed both hands on to her stomach and felt a warm glow go right through her. Before Larna had left they had both visited a Doctor’s to see about having a procedure to couple their DNA into one of Heather’s embryo’s so that Heather could have ‘their’ child.

“It worked,” she stated in relief. “We are going to have a son,” Heather asked to get confirmation.

Larna ran her hand down Heather’s face lovingly and kissed her fully on the lips again. Heather returned the kiss and the two started running their hands all over their bodies.

Tom Aspel was a man in his mid-fifties. He had seen a lot in his life, but the sight of two very sexy young women engaging in a heated sexual exchange, even turned his head. Larna stopped kissing Heather slowly.

“I am sorry if we embarrassed you,” Larna said calmly as she turned to face the door.

Half of her wanted to keep kissing Heather to make Aspel squirm. She just could not help playing games when Aspel was involved. That instinct went back to the days when she was on the streets easily avoiding capture by his forces.

Heather immediately jumped into the bed and under the covers. “Oh my god, Commander Aspel,” she exclaimed in horror. “You should not see me like this,” Heather finished trying to hide her own embarrassment.

Larna, who was also completely naked, turned to face the door without shame. She was not conscious of her body or inhibited about flaunting what she had. Even if it was showing off her sexiness to her own brother-in-law. Larna was feeling extremely playful.

“You have picked one hell of a time to come visiting,” Larna stated as she swayed across the room.

“Fox,” Tom said as he swiftly turned his back on the room, “would you quit the games. We need to talk,” he finished strongly.

“Yes, you’re right. We do,” Larna said as she grabbed a dressing down and swung it around her body and on to her arms as she went passed Tom into the living room of the three-room apartment.

“Did you find them?” Tom asked swiftly cutting right to the chase.

Larna had to think quickly for a moment. So much had happened to her since she had left New Arizona on her original mission, that she had to try to remember the original reason for going back. That was one thing about being a time traveller. You had to have a very good memory. Larna had been in so many different Temporal Reality Event Sequence lines that it was hard to keep track of them. TRES’ were interwoven into a fabric, with numerous strings touching at numerous points. History could be wide apart or close together, but at some point, sometimes at several points, they would touch and be the same. Larna could not explain why, she just knew that it was the way of things. She had originally gone back to catch some Zarrs, or criminals, who had escaped from Bostary prison. Larna nodded her head briefly.

“I had a little trouble, but things sorted themselves out” she replied not giving al of the details of the adventure, because she knew there were more important things to talk about. “Can you answer me a question Commander?” Larna pressed swiftly. “How is Detective Mahoney?” she enquired quickly.

“Sky?” Tom replied in confusion, half expecting the question to be ‘why are you here?’. “Why would you be asking about Sky?” he asked showing some nerves and anxiety in his voice.

If Larna did not truly believe that Tom loved her half-sister completely, she would have been greatly suspicious that an illicit affair between Tom and Sky was the reason behind the nerves. But, that was not the case. There had to be some other reason for his nerves when that name was mentioned. Larna knew that Sky was a major player and part in Johnston’s rise to power in the city. She could not believe that Tom would know that. That was another explanation for his anxiety shot down. Larna slowly moved to one of the mock-leather chairs inside the quite bare living room.

“What do you know Fox? And how do you know it?” Tom asked swiftly, his nerves getting the better of him and his ‘bottle’ disappearing fast. “You must understand that I was left with very few options under the circumstances,” he explained without prompting.

Larna got the distinct feeling that she had stumbled on to more than met the eye. She knew that Sky was involved, but how involved had not always been clear. The deal with Sky Mahoney had suddenly taken on a new deeper dimension.

“The Council were not sure going after the operation in this way was the best thing to do, so they did not clear the mission. I sent Sky anyway,” Tom confessed swiftly. “I was blinded by rage and frustration. This person was flaunting in justice in our faces and laughing at our attempts to find and stop him. I had to do something,” he expressed calmly.

‘The deal with Sky Mahoney has really hit the depths,’ Larna thought to herself as she watched Aspel slump down into one of the other chairs, anxiety turning him into a nervous shell of the man he used to be. “So you sent Sky out undercover to find Tony Johnston and get inside Arctic Pleasure,” Larna stated reading between the lines and drawing up a concluding statement to Tom’s confession.

Tom went as pale as a whitewashed wall. He did not think anyone knew. In fact he was sure that only the Council, Sky and himself knew the full extent of the details. Larna practically knew everything that they did. He stared coldly and directly into Larna’s calm expression. His heart was pounding like a drum and felt like it would be fired from a cannon out of his chest at any second.

“Now, you are in a panic, because Sky had disappeared and not been in contact for days,” Larna expressed again reading into the motive behind Tom’s appearance in her apartment.

“Is this a new ability you have forgotten to tell us about?” Tom enquired calmly finding Larna’s suddenly knowledge astounding.

“I know a worried man when I see one. And, I also know how you get when you send your kids out on a mission. Why else would the Council have hired my to do all of the fucking dirty work?” Larna expressed slowly bringing a sense of understanding on to Tom’s face. “Now, I cannot explain to you why, but I have an ulterior motive for going after Johnston myself. All you have to do is ask for my help. But, understand this Tom, I am going after the bastard anyway with or without your backing,” she snapped firmly before rising to her feet strongly and pacing off towards the bedroom.

“I need your help Fox,” Tom said as Larna disappeared into the bedroom.

This adventure follows on slightly from Adventure #28. Larna returns to her home time. Immediately she is called into the police station and given a file containing a number of records relating to teenagers kidnapped from back in time.
