About the author

When I was growing up, I was always into the fantasy type stories – the likes of Buck Rogers, Six Million Dollar Man and Wonder Woman. That trend continued through Quantum Leap and Xena: Warrior Princess. I have always been attracted to movies or stories that take you away from the day-to-day and give visions of the future that is beyond my years. I am also attracted to strong female characters and leads in stories. I do not think there are enough of them in film and television. Done correctly, they can provide just as much, if not more, enjoyment than male dominated action, because they bring a different dimension to the tale.

I first started writing in 1989. It was a four page short story that was written to share with my friends at school. Soon after finishing school, those four pages became forty. The main characters developed from that, followed by ideas for the series. I admit to taking inspiration from a lot of different elements during the development of the character and the story – from Quantum Leap to Timecop and Trancers through to Beverly Hills Cop. When starting out, I could be inspired by a picture, a film, a piece of music, a dream or something I saw on the street. Larna Fox settled down as a character around 1992 I suppose, but she has developed and changed a few times since then.

While studying Business Studies at college then on to University, I realised that I needed a balance between the heavy academic type writing and analytical work with a creative element, so enjoyed challenging myself to continue to write. The series continued to grow as ideas ran through my mind. I never thought about a career as an author or writer, because, well, the stories were more for my peace of mind, my enjoyment and were very private at that time.

As my career switched towards Media Studies, I had a thought of going into television and film production, but soon realised that I did not have the right set of skills to go in that direction. It was around this time that the Internet was starting to take off, so I decided to combine my computer studies, business and media into following a digital / internet route. My career has not looked back since making that decision and I enjoy digital marketing and digital development greatly. If I had the artistic talent, I would love to do the 3D artwork pieces that you can see on this site. I have a great passion for that type of artistry and admire the artists that can produce those works a lot. I believe that the series could easily be adapted to a comic book format using this method.

Since starting work, the writing has slowed down. Other things have come along to replace the hobby and enjoyment I have for writing these adventures. But, I tend to revisit them often, rewrite them or develop new stories that I take my time to write and pull together when the mood takes me.

I will never become a millionaire from selling my stories here and my retirement plan does not depend on that fortunately, but I have published the works here to share my vision with a wider audience. The stories were very private and are still very close to my heart, so it has taken a lot to step out of the shadows and publish them online. I do not claim that they will be the best things you will have ever read, but still hope that the people who do decide to buy them, enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them.

Thanks.
